Weirdly, last time I saw Ms Noriko play (with Aoki Takamasa), it was very loud indeed.

Somewhat related - I remember Keiji Haino saying he’d recorded with Tujiko Noriko at some point a couple of years ago. I wonder what happened to that?

I really enjoyed this gig. I don’t know if it’s just my perception but a lot of the London shows I’ve attended recently have had pretty diverse line-ups. This was a good example - I hope this trend continues.

I wouldn’t go as far as the crowd being ‘loathsome’ but agreed, there was a lot of West-End “mwah, mwah, darling…” at full volume.

The crowd was loathsome and reminded me why I so rarely bother going to gigs these days. Thankfully Tujiko was wonderful and I was thrilled to hear her do ‘Robot Hero’, a song that makes me feel utterly strange in a way I can’t describe…

nickinko - Probably ‘Solo’, which was released last year, would be closest to what you describe. But do try and hear some of her earlier work, which is less polished but in some ways a stranger and more surprising vision - ‘Shojo Toshi’ is a good place to start. Also sounds like you’d enjoy her song ‘White Film’ - perhaps the most ‘pop’ thing she’s done and ‘dreamy’ is definitely the word for it….

Wow, that is exciting. I only have Blurred In My Mirror, and the album she made with Aoki Takamasa (28), but I love some of the dreamier, warped, slowed-down sounds on there. I wonder which of her other albums I’d like best?
