And come on, they did have a big bit of wood that was BADLY NAILED TOGETHER! How exciting is that? I'm sorry to say I just didn't get Sunburned Hand of The Man. This isn't because of an aversion to abstract or improvised music (far from it, my tastes veer increasingly in this direction lately) - but simply with tha nature of the performance. The circular gathering at the start seemed like a rejection of any need to involve the audience and, perhaps as a result, the drones seemed to me entirely unengaging. It was only when the pace increased and the group started experimenting more with rhythm that I really switched on.
